Technology
Better Diagnosis and Treatment
Digital X-Rays
In the past, X-rays had to be developed over time in a dark room with harsh chemicals that are harmful to the environment. Nowadays, we can take higher quality images of your oral structures digitally and instantly look at the results, saving you valuable time. This not only leads to quicker diagnosis and treatment but also exposes you as the patient to up to 90 percent less radiation than traditional X-rays. Also, the sensors for taking the digital X-rays are smaller than their traditional counterpart, reducing your discomfort during the imaging process.
Intraoral Camera
Without an intraoral camera, you simply have to trust what the dentist says is going on in your mouth. Using an intraoral camera, we are able to show you what we see, fully educate you about your issues and your treatment options, and allow you to make more informed and confident decisions. We want to be your partner in maintaining your oral health, and our intraoral cameras allow us to do just that.
Digital Impression System
Many patients don’t enjoy having traditional impressions taken of their teeth. The thick putty material has been known to cause gag reflexes and is unpleasant to leave in position for the requisite timeframe. Luckily, at Carlsbad Beach Dental, Drew Addy DDS, we have left traditional impressions in the past. Instead, we use a digital impression system. This eliminates any discomfort associated with taking impressions and provides us with more accurate data for creating customized treatment plans for restorations and appliances.
Soft Tissue Laser Dentistry
Instead of using a scalpel to perform invasive procedures, we use a soft tissue laser, which allows us to address many oral conditions with ease. Some of these conditions include gum disease, tongue ties through frenectomies, a “gummy smile” with recontouring, and much more! Utilizing a soft tissue laser gives you the following benefits:
- Little to no bleeding
- No need for sutures
- Virtually pain-free treatment
